I thought the first half was fun.
But then he just points a sonic screwdriver at the screen and boom; problem solved. All that build up evaporated.
ffs I can see why John Nathan Turner did away with it.

Oh, I know. the story felt so rushed. I think it still could have worked without the cubes thing; the Doctor seeing how the Ponds live. There was great character development, though, with the Ponds and 11. That exchange with 11 and Amy was perfect.
